Bright Colorful Artist Created Hearts and more

We have carried Tracy's bright, beautiful and whimsical wooden wall sculptures for the past year. Each of these designs is so bright and cheery that you cannot suppress a smile when you see them. While we have quite a few hearts ... it is Valentines Day after all ... we also have some fantastic fish, a smiley man-in-the-moon, a sunflower, butterfly and bright blue star. You have gotta check these out. The PERFECT gift that will bring smiles for a long time! Each piece is hand assembled and individually painted. These range in price from $59.95 to $169.95 ... not a lot for original artwork.

Collections: Corkscrews

Image
(This article was written for the November 2010 issue of The Quarterly Worme , the newsletter for the Canadian Corkscrew Collectors Club, of which I am a member. Hope you enjoy it.) I never actually thought about collecting corkscrews.  It just happened!  Susan and I were in London back in the mid-80s.  It was a business trip and she came along so we could add some vacation time to the trip.  While wandering the backstreets near Shepherd’s Market one day, we wandered into an antique shop.  There it was … this beautiful object with a turned ivory handle and an unusual brush on one side.  Since we loved wine, the fact that it was a corkscrew also made it practical.  I bought it, thinking how great it would be to open a bottle of old Port with this magnificent corkscrew. 12 Days in Paris: Flea Markets

Image
Paris flea markets range from neighborhood markets (the Paris equivalent of garage sales, which are not allowed in Paris) to brocante markets (like the one we went to at Porte de Vanves) to the antique flea markets (such as the Paris Flea Market at Clingnancourt). This “market” is actually a dozen markets scattered over several streets in the area. The market is large, confusing and many of the antiques are expensive. We started at Marche Paul Bert and Serpette, then over to Marche Biron. These markets are typically high end. Great to look at and you will definitely see things not available here in the Bay Area. We eventually got over to Marche Vernaison where we were more at home with the brocante shops. Marche Paul Bert and Serpette We didn’t bu...

NEW ... DIY Paints from Vintages and Tattered Angels

Image
Introducing two new products at Vintages. These are paints from Tattered Angels … their newest paint is a chalk or milk paint that is truly special, while the other is a wonderful highlighting paint. Both are new to us … and both are in stock. With the crafters’ love of refinishing, remodeling, repairing, reusing, repurposing and redesigning on the rise, we felt there was a need for professional quality paints that do what they say it will do. The Decor & DIY Paint is just what the DIY doctor ordered when it comes to a great chalk paint option that can be applied to just about any surface. This paint is available in a cup container that covers about 25 square feet of space depending on the number of coats. This durable paint goes on with a smooth, strong finish. Unlike other brands on the market, DIY paint is there to stay and is not easily scratched or rubbed off. We have the DIY Paint available in eight amazing colors. These do not ...
