Collection of PEP Pinbacks on a Jughead Hat

WOW! What a collection! We found this Jughead style hat with a bunch of old premium pinback buttons from Kelloggs PEP cereal and along with others just as collectible. The hat has thirty-one (31) pins. There are twenty (20) PEP pins -- premiums from the Kelloggs PEP cereals in the late 1940s and 1950s. Includes: Moons Mullins, Cindy. Orphan Annie, Superman, Barney Google, Smitty, Herbie, Casper and more. The other eleven (11) pins are very collectible pins including one Mutt and Jeff - "Can It" - pin by Fisher, and several risque ones as well. The brown felt hat beanie - Jughead style - is Glenover, 100% wool, made by Henry Pollak, Inc. around 1950.

In 1945, Kellogg inserted a prize in the form of pinback buttons into each box of Pep cereal. Pep pins have included U.S. Army squadrons as well as characters from newspaper comics. There were five series of comics characters, with 18 different buttons in each set. This should make 90 buttons in the complete set, but the Superman button appeared in all five sets, because of the close association between Kellogg's Pep and the Adventures of Superman radio show. This makes a total of 86 unique comic buttons in the set.

Gotta remember Jughead!

We have this hat and its collection of pins available online and in our shop. Price at $159 for the whole bunch!
