It's Vintages' 10th Anniversary!!!

 It's hard to believe it, but we are celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Vintages this month! We opened Vintages of Los Gatos in April of 2003. Susan and I wanted to combined our diverse strengths with a common love of art and antiques to create a shop unlike any other. We took one part of antiques and mixed it with hand crafted art and distinctive gifts. That's how we envisioned Vintages ... and we think that's how we have made it successful. 
 
Celebrating 10 Years in Los Gatos
In the first couple of years we offered antiques, gifts and home decor. Over time, we realized that there was a need for unique crafting supplies and accessories, so that became a growth area for us. In the past several years we have also added a lot of handcrafted, Made-in-America items. So that Vintages today is quite different than it was ten years ago. Instead of antiques, gifts and home decor, we now have antiques, gifts and crafts.

We have tried to listen to our customers and provide unique items ... things that you cannot find elsewhere. Thanks to all of you who shop with us, we are now starting another decade here in Los Gatos.

Let's get nostalgic for a moment and look back at some photos of Vintages in earlier years.

Our Grand Opening was celebrated in September with an Open House.
We offered wedding supplies back then ... and notice our one rack of ribbons ... now we have a whole wall of ribbons and paper!

Old Lava Stone Church in Kilauea, Kauai, Hawaii

Christ Memorial Episcopal Church, Kilauea, Kauai, Hawaii On our recent vacation to the Hawaiian island of Kauai, we stopped in to this wonderful old church. We had seen is many times, but this was the first time we stopped to look inside. Wow! The hand-carved altar and communion rail are gorgeous! The stained glass windows are equally as beautiful. The Christ Memorial Episcopal Church is located just off the main highway in the town of Kilauea. It is still an active mission church, with services on Sundays and Holy Days. According to the church's website: There is also an interesting history attached to the church itself. As early as 1888 worship services were held in Kilauea ... By 1924 the time had come for a permanent church in Kilauea ... In 1939 the Kilauea Sugar Company deeded the churchyard to Christ Memorial Church and gave the native stone used in the erection of the present building ... Rosaries, Prayer Books & Religious Medals

It's the time of year when Christians, Catholics in particular, celebrate post Easter rituals like first communion and confirmation.  And June is known as weddings month!  At Vintages we always have a nice selection of vintage religious items like rosaries, medals of saints and the Holy Family, prayer books and pocket shrines.  Below is a sampling of what is currently available. Rosaries with beads of crystal, sterling silver, olive wood and molded glass.  We even have a few that have reliquaries included. Rosary cases, holy water fonts, little plaques with holy pictures and ecclesiastical sayings. Wonderful old miniature prayer books, first communion mementos, and a new testament bible from the early 1700s. Religious medals, pocket crucifixes and shrines.  In addition, we have a large selection of crosses.
