Handcrafted Silver Wire Wrapped Ceramic Fragment Pendants by Susan

Introducing a new line of beautiful one-of-a-kind pendants handcrafted by Susan. These pendants are crafted from ceramic transfer ware fragments that are silver wire wrapped and finished with (lead-free) silver solder and beads. A great way to recycle vintage plates and tiles, as well as old beads and charms.

There is no formula for creating these little pieces of wearable art. Susan lets the ceramic fragment dictate how the piece comes together, with the hard edges of the ceramic softened by the free-flowing form of silver wire and solder.  For some pendants the shape of the fragment defines the design, on others a tiny flower will peak out from behind or within the array of wires, and a few just demand that a bead or two be attached. Each of these pendants is unique.

Ceramic Fragment Pendants are available in our Los Gatos shop, as well as online at both Pretty Ribbons on Etsy and our own Vintages Online Shop. These are priced at $39.95 each, including a necklace length of 5/8" chiffon ribbon and a coordinating organza bag.

Old Lava Stone Church in Kilauea, Kauai, Hawaii

Christ Memorial Episcopal Church, Kilauea, Kauai, Hawaii On our recent vacation to the Hawaiian island of Kauai, we stopped in to this wonderful old church. We had seen is many times, but this was the first time we stopped to look inside. Wow! The hand-carved altar and communion rail are gorgeous! The stained glass windows are equally as beautiful. The Christ Memorial Episcopal Church is located just off the main highway in the town of Kilauea. It is still an active mission church, with services on Sundays and Holy Days. According to the church's website: There is also an interesting history attached to the church itself. As early as 1888 worship services were held in Kilauea ... Rosaries, Prayer Books & Religious Medals

It's the time of year when Christians, Catholics in particular, celebrate post Easter rituals like first communion and confirmation.  And June is known as weddings month!  At Vintages we always have a nice selection of vintage religious items like rosaries, medals of saints and the Holy Family, prayer books and pocket shrines.  Below is a sampling of what is currently available.
