The San Francisco Fall Antiques Show • Oct 28-31, 2010

 If you have never been to this magnificent antiques show, you really should get there.  It is filled with museum quality antiques in a showroom type setting.  The show is at Fort Mason in the beautiful Marina district, between Fisherman's Wharf and the Golden Gate Bridge on San Francisco Bay.

The San Francisco Fall Antiques Show bills itself as the oldest continuously operating international antiques show on the West Coast. The Show features approximately seventy dealers from across the United States and Europe, offering for sale an extraordinary range of fine and decorative arts representing all styles and periods including American, English, Continental, and Asian furniture, silver, ceramics, glass, jewelry, rugs, textiles, paintings, prints, and photographs. The show is fully vetted and the dealers are all extremely knowledgeable.

Whether you are in the market for a fantastic old piece, want to attend one of the excellent lectures, or just enjoy the museum-like experience, this show is worth it.  The themed exhibit and lectures are focused on Chinoiserie, that design approach that incorporates the wonders of Asian motifs into Western objects.

Old Lava Stone Church in Kilauea, Kauai, Hawaii

Christ Memorial Episcopal Church, Kilauea, Kauai, Hawaii On our recent vacation to the Hawaiian island of Kauai, we stopped in to this wonderful old church. We had seen is many times, but this was the first time we stopped to look inside. Wow! The hand-carved altar and communion rail are gorgeous! The stained glass windows are equally as beautiful. The Christ Memorial Episcopal Church is located just off the main highway in the town of Kilauea. It is still an active mission church, with services on Sundays and Holy Days. According to the church's website: There is also an interesting history attached to the church itself. As early as 1888 worship services were held in Kilauea ... Rosaries, Prayer Books & Religious Medals

It's the time of year when Christians, Catholics in particular, celebrate post Easter rituals like first communion and confirmation.  And June is known as weddings month!  At Vintages we always have a nice selection of vintage religious items like rosaries, medals of saints and the Holy Family, prayer books and pocket shrines.  Below is a sampling of what is currently available.
