We were up in Santa Rosa recently and saw some interesting assemblage art pieces from members of the Arts Guild of Sonoma. It made me think of the mixed media, assemblage and found objects art that we have at Vintages. Love this type of creativity as it is not just artistic, it is often personal and always eco-friendly. Just listed these necklaces on Lopaka Designs ... each is a wonderful vintage brass cross that can be used as a pendant on a necklace, or by shortening the cord, it can be hung on a variety of things ... like bottles, hooks, doorknobs, mirrors, statues, etc. I took these old repousse crosses and filled the backs with a bit of solder to add some heft to the pendant. Just a few available.

We have a new selection of colorful, bright, whimsical wall art by Wisconsin artist Tracy Pesche ... aka Tra-Art. Each piece is hand cut from wood, hand painted and embellished with a variety of adornments including wire and metal. Susan found this beautiful old black parasol. It is delicate, yet sturdy. The handle folds to make it easy to carry. How elegant it would be to stroll through the park or wander down the main street holding this lovely parasol ... all black with frilly edges and small enough to be oh so feminine! Priced in the shop at $65.00 ... a steal!

We have a lot of vintage photographs at Vintages ... from mundane families sitting on a couch to proud photos of the "new" car to the kids riding on a pony. These are all great for many reasons and the plans people have for them are quite interesting. Some just like them ... others frame them ... crafty folks use them in collages, scrapbooks, altered art and mixed-media creations ... teachers and authors have used them as props to tell stories ... and a couple have made fantasy family trees! When in NYC a couple of years ago we saw a museum exhibit filled with jewelry made using old photographs . Pretty amazing!
