Journals ... Notepads ... Jot it Down!

Image
I have been a note-taker since high school. I used my notebook for taking class notes as well as writing down homework assignments. In college I continued the practice, adding notes on projects as well. When I got into the workforce I found this notebook thing to be quite helpful ... keeping track of tasks, meeting notes and "to do" lists. It was all re-enforced by the company's requirement to maintain a documented research notebook in addition to my personal book. While I continue the practice of keeping notes and "to do" lists, I have never kept a personal journal or diary ... but I know plenty of folks who do. Journals and notepads are a steady seller for us and we just added a few new styles to our selection. These are available in our shop ... and soon I will be adding them to our shopping site . These Alexis Pulitzer Notepads and Notebooks are Designed and Printed in New Orleans on Very Fine Paper Stock The designs are simply fantastic .....

Found ... Antique Typewriters

Image
We found these three fantastic old antique typewriters. Love these things. I doubt there will be as much interest or love for early "word processors" as there is for these old "writing machines." 147 years ago on June 23, 1868, American inventor Christopher Sholes, and two partners Samuel Soule and Carlos Glidden, patented the “Type-Writer.” There were other mechanical writing machines before this, but the " Sholes and Glidden Type-Writer " became the first commercially successful model. The Sholes typewriter was first offered commercially by Remington in 1873. The three we have are really neat. The latest is a 1940s L. C. Smith (as in Smith Corona) Super Speed typewriter. All black matte finish paint and a handsome specimen.   L. C. Smith 1940s Super Speed Typewriter ($145) We have one other L. C. Smith typewriter, the 1906 No. 2. This baby is all fancied up with gilded pin-striping and glossy black paint...

We have been offering Janet Ontko's wonderful Arts & Crafts style tiles for many years. We now are offering some of her clay sculptures as well. Janet, who works out of her studio in Fresno, California, is inspired by the simplicity and style of the Craftsman Movement. She says: The honesty of the materials, the look of the clay, the touch of the potter and the return to the craft tradition compelled me to develop my own signature style. Her line of award-winning tiles and sculptures incorporate her love of gardening and nature. The Bear is 9-1/2" tall ($95.95); The Cat is taller at 14" ($135.00) The Wise Old Owl is 11-1/2" tall ($95.95); The Colorful Frog is 8-1/2" ($69.95) Welcome Tiles are 8" x 10" ($49.95) Decorative Tiles are 8" square ($45.95) These Word Tiles are 4-1/2" x 7-1/2" ($29.95) These Bird Tiles with Twigs are 4-1/2" x 7-1/2" ($37.95) Most of the tiles are available in our on...
