2013 Design & Color Trends

Image
This is the time of year that everyone does their year end retrospective look and predictions for the upcoming year. Looking back is fine when you are studying history, but I would rather look ahead at what is in store for 2013. So I have pulled together the desi gn and color trends put forth by some of my favorite design sites to share with you. Next month we will be at the Americas Mart Gift Show picking out our offerings for 2013. I'll update you with what we find there when we return.  What are the common threads put forth by these tren dsetters? Color: Pantone's 2013 color chart is out. Primary colors are in. Birds ... Birds ... Birds!

Image
We love birds. They are so much fun to watch at the feeder outside our kitchen window ... a nd we just love it when the quail and turkeys pay us a visit. There is just something warm and fuzzy about our feathered friends. At Vintages we have a lot of bird ornaments. These can really dress up a tree, add a nice touch to a table centerpiece and look great as a decoration attached to a package bow. We have little porcelain birds and bird dishes, candles and paperweights , bird magnets and handcrafted bird clay tiles. There is also a great selection of vintage bird prints in the shop, including Audubon. To top it off we have decorative bird paper and tags. Celebrate the Holidays with our fine feathered friends!

Vintages will be open daily until Christmas

For Your Convenience Vintages will be open Daily until Christmas Monday - Friday 10am - 6pm Sunday 11am - 5pm

The Story of the Three Little Pine Trees

Image
A while back I came across a box of old photographs, a scrapbook and some miscellaneous papers from the Guest family of San Francisco. This beautiful Christmas story was among the items. It is "Given to Daddy by Paul" when Paul was in the second grade in 1948. How sweet is this! There were three trees. They were pine trees. They lived on a hill. They wanted to be Christmas trees. A little bird came to the hill. The bird wanted a home. The bird flew to the big tree. The big tree was not kind. The bird flew to the next tree. Then it flew to the little tree. The little tree was kind. It gave the bird a home. Soon Santa came to the hill. He looked for the bird. He saw the bird in the little tree. He took the tree for a Christmas tree. He gave the bird to Alice.   Paul Guest, Christmas 1948
